HISTORY OF CELLPHONES

Dr. Martin Cooper invented the cell phone.

It was invented for a variety of reasons, including:
1. To make a call in the case of a medical emergency
2. To get in contact with a family member in a much faster time period

Cellphones now enable people to make plans, such as dates or business meetings.

The cell phone was invented by some engineer that wanted to make the regular telephone go farther than the cordless phone. The first cell phone came out in 1987. They were big and bulky and required huge batteries and coiled rod antennas for car use, and not to mention expensive hard to keep up cell phone plans. Most cell phones were restricted for car use only. There is a video in you tube from Radio Shack that shows the first cell phone commerical that required a big contract. In 1989 there was one company that did not survive that came out with its first cell phone adveristisement which possibly got the interest in cell phone technology off the ground. In 1993 cell phones were still coming out, but very expensive to obtain. While through the early stages the cell phone plans required a big huge
$300 security deposit and most cell phone calls were mostly analog carriers. There was a huge problem "roaming" while you move from one cell tower to another the roaming charges and limited minutes were being used up. Cell phone reception back in the 90's was very spotty and limited than it was today. In 2000 to 2010 many new cell phones every year getting better and are all mostly digital and roaming and limited minutes are the thing of the past. Here we are now using the internet, and GPS and other features even music players are added to cell phones these days and in the future, we will be able to use skype video technology "video phone" and possibility use our cell phone services through our HD sets while watching our TV shows. Still, we should be patient and get it right this time for our future in cell phone communications. Soon the cell phone technology will be built into the netbook and a notebooks.
